If you are a Texas land-owner with 5-20 acres, you may be eligible for the 1-D-1 open space agricultural valuation by having a working apiary on site. This tax valuation may reduce the taxable value of your property. For an annual fee, Trinity Oaks Farms offers ag valuation services where we manage our bees on your property! If you are interested in lowering your property taxes in McLennan county, receiving an ag valuation with bees may be a good option.
Step 1: Schedule an onsite visit
The purpose of the visit is to determine if there is a suitable location for the bees. We need a vehicle accessible location with a water source nearby and adequate bee forage in the surrounding area.
Step 2: Determine required number of colonies.
The number of required colonies is determined by the county based on property size. In McLennan County typically 8-12 colonies are required.
Step 3: Complete Ag Valuation Lease Agreement and payment.
We will sign a lease agreement that will be a crucial document for the landowner to show the county when filing for the ag valuation. Payment can be made quarterly or yearly.
Step 4: Sit back and relax and let us manage the bees.
We take good care of our colonies and make sure that they are healthy, well fed and have the opportunity to thrive. On average we visit our bee yards every 2-3 weeks during the spring, summer and fall.
